Athlos Live earbuds are completely sweatproof, waterproof, swimproof, showerproof, stormproof, whatever you can think of when it comes to water protection. We have patented watertight designs and an IPX8 rating that verifies the ability to last for hours of swimming in any recreational and competitive pool.
We’ve experimented with more than 20 kinds of underwater audio designs, and although bone conduction speakers can function well underwater, experimental results showed that users’ listening experiences were significantly better with the speakers and eartips we are currently using.
Yes! You can still listen to music on your phone wirelessly over BT just like any other earbuds while enjoying all the additional features that Athlos Live provides.
Athlos devices are built for workouts both on the land and in the water. True wireless earbuds rely on continuous wireless communication between the left and right earpieces, which is extremely unreliable underwater and can lead to spotty listening experiences. Athlos devices instead use a connector to provide a smooth, reliable, surround sound experience while still providing real time feedback and swimming tracking in the water. While they can track and report independently, Athlos devices can still wirelessly connect to phones, smartwatches, computers, or other products over a BT connection if desired.
While perfectly fine on land, BT wireless connections do not work underwater. This is because of the physics behind BT waves and water: water molecules severely attenuate BT signals to the point where the range of most wireless devices reduces to a few inches. Increasing the strength of these signals to work underwater can lead to harmful health effects, so the Athlos team has chosen to protect the well being of our users by foregoing underwater wireless streaming features.
Athlos devices have the best and most resilient waterproof design for any music player at our size. Watertight seals and innovative button designs prevent any leakage while swimming, but the world class speaker is the one component that cannot be completely sealed off, as this would completely obstruct the listening experience. The swimming eartips have a thin film that prevents water from entering the speaker, but may decrease the sound quality while they are on the device due to the film.
I use Spotify for my music currently. How can I transfer my Spotify songs to my Athlos Live earbuds?
If you use Spotify and want to upload your Spotify playlists to your earbuds, you'll need to use a Spotify to MP3 converter. Software such as Sidify, Audfree, Onedesoft, etc can do this, and these products typically require a subscription or one time payment. Alternatively, you can use online YouTube to MP3 converters as well. Please note that you can only use these kinds of downloaded songs for your own self and cannot distribute them legally.
Athlos Live is currently working on a partnership with one of the Spotify to MP3 conversion services so that users can get them at a discount.
