Congratulations on receiving your new Athlos Live earbuds! Now, get ready to transform the way you work out! To get started, you'll want to do a few things:

1) Pick an eartip size that works best for you. Choose the size that fits your ear best, and familiarize yourself with adjusting the earhooks for a perfect fit. Important: you must use the solid black eartips for water activities like swimming or showering. 

2) Turn on your earbuds using the innovative buttonless controls. Most electronics use buttons that introduce huge weak points for water leakage. Athlos Live uses a single magnetic slider to control all functions instead, giving your new earbuds incredible waterproof capabilities! See below for controls.

3) Setup the Athlos App: Download the Athlos app from the Google Play or App Store, open it, and sign up for an account by following the instructions on the app. Once you're done, follow these instructions:

Sign in with your new Athlos account.

Tap the bottom middle tab that says sync.

Turn on both your earbud’s and phone’s wireless pairing.

Swipe down on the app to link your earbuds to the Athlos App. You’ll hear “app connected” and will see a notification on the app once that’s successful.

Now you can workout with or without your phone as your earbuds track your activities and then upload them to the Athlos app when you’re finished! Your earbuds will automatically do this when you open the Athlos app. You'll be able to customize your earbuds with different smart activity modes and settings, and can also view fitness insights from your uploaded activities! Just make sure wireless pairing is on for both devices.

Note: In order for the Athlos App to know what day you worked out, remember to upload your workouts the same day that you do them. The Athlos App will treat the upload date as the workout date.

4) Get used to the innovative buttonless controls! Since the magnetic slider is the first of its kind, it may take a bit of getting used to. You’ll find that after some time, the slider will be much smoother than button controls.

5) [Optional] Add songs to your earbuds: Athlos Live earbuds have internal storage for songs so you don't need to bring a phone or watch with you! You can store any mp3s you have on your computer by dragging and placing them into the “MUSIC” or “USER” folder.  Only mp3 files stored in the “MUSIC” folder will be played.

If you use Spotify and want to upload your Spotify playlists to your earbuds, you'll need to use a Spotify to MP3 converter. Software such as Sidify, Audfree, Onedesoft, etc can do this, and these products typically require a subscription or one time payment. Alternatively, you can use online YouTube to MP3 converters as well. Please note that you can only use these kinds of downloaded songs for your own self and cannot distribute them legally.

Athlos Live is also currently working on a partnership with one of the Spotify to MP3 conversion services so that users can get them at a discount.

Basic Operations

Athlos Live can store 8 different activity modes at a time. These modes are Running, Vertical Jump, Swimming, Interval Training, Swimming Workout, Swimming Race, Timer, and Music Only. Different modes track and coach different activities. See the sections (the Activity Modes) for more details about each mode.

You can toggle between modes depending on your workout.

Activity modes are stored in a fixed order. You can change this order on the Athlos App (see [Wireless BT Operations] Connecting to the Athlos App for more details). After powering up, your earbuds will always start in Music Only mode. You can only switch modes when you pause your music with the earbuds. Slide forward-up to switch to the next mode in sequence, or slide forward-down to switch to the previous mode in sequence.

To select the activity mode you want, follow these steps:

1) Pause your music

2) Slide forward-up and hold until you hear the name of the next activity mode in sequence

3) Repeat until you select your desired activity mode

4) Unpause to play music again. You can choose to ignore this step and still get your coaching and tracking without any music

You also can slide forward-down and hold to skip to the previous mode in sequence.

How to Video: Select next activity mode

To connect your Athlos Live earbuds to another device with wireless capabilities, first make sure the device you're connecting to has its wireless pairing turned on. With your earbuds: slide back, hold, and release after you hear a beep. You will hear "searching for devices..."

You will hear "audio connected" once Athlos Live successfully pairs with your device. You may need to manually select "AthlosAudio" if this is the first time you are connecting to that device. Athlos Live supports all functions of typical wireless earbuds: you can play audio from the paired device and listen with Athlos Live earbuds.

You can turn off wireless connection the same way it is turned on: slide back, hold, and release after you hear a beep. You will hear "Playing your downloaded music" and your earbuds will start playing your stored songs.

If you have the Athlos App running on a nearby smartphone and have linked your Athlos Live earbuds to them, your earbuds will automatically connect to the app and you'll hear "App connected." If you have not linked your Athlos Live earbuds or do not know what that means, check out the [Getting Started] Basic controls and the Athlos App section at the top.

After linking, your earbuds will automatically sync your tracked activities with the Athlos App. Make sure to restart your earbuds after recording activities before syncing, and make sure that they are NOT on smart mode when syncing. Not doing so can result in unwanted behaviors with the earbud configurations, and you'll have to update them again (see below). After auto-syncing, your fitness data will be updated, and you will hear "Activity Records Updated." You can then view your activities by going to Profile (on the bottom left tab) and tapping on View Past Activities. You can also manually sync your activities by going to the sync tab and swiping down.

You can change the order of your activity modes and the settings of each mode using the Athlos App. Tap the Device Config tab on the bottom right to do so. Make sure you hit the save and update device button after choosing your preferred order and settings. After hitting the button, you'll hear "Configurations Updated." and you'll see a success message on the Athlos App. Make sure to restart your Athlos Device by powering off and back on afterwards.

What is running mode?

While in running mode, Athlos Live earbuds will measure your step count, cadence (steps/minute), calories burned, and total time spent in running mode. All these fitness data are stored in the device's internal memory.

There is no need to carry any other devices like phones or smartwatches. Athlos Live is intelligent enough to provide everything itself.

The Athlos coach can provide live audio reports and encouragement. Our self learning algorithm will tailor all audio feedback based on your past performances.

You also can use the Athlos App to view post running fitness insights.

Runners of any level, from casual strollers to marathon runners can use this mode. You can also try dance and jump rope while in this mode as well.

What is Vertical Jump Mode?
While in Vertical Jump Mode, Athlos Live will measure and report your vertical jump height in inches, or your hangtime in 0.01 seconds right after you land. Just jump, land, and listen for your results!

Athlos Live also records every jump you take in internal memory. The Athlos App summarizes your jumping records in succinct charts so you can track your progress.

Based on past records, the Athlos coach will provide live audio feedback on your performance for each jump you take.

This mode is a fun and convenient way to improve your jumping capabilities, so enjoy!


Jumping Demo

There are a few but important steps you should follow before swimming with Athlos Live.

1) Make sure you are using the specialized Athlos swimming eartips. These eartips will be a translucent gray or a solid all-around black color. You can also tell by looking through the hole in the eartip: if you cannot clearly see through the other side of the eartip through the hole, then you've got the swimming eartips! They've got a protective film that blocks water from entering the speakers through that hole.

2) Tuck the earhooks underneath your goggle straps. The goggle straps should be covering the front and back of the earhook (see the video below for more details)

3) You might have to increase the volume. This is because our swimming eartips naturally dampen the volume slightly.

What is Lap Swimming Mode?

Lap swimming mode reports your lap count, lap time, and/or calories right after each turn while playing crisp music underwater, no matter how hard/fast you swim.

It will record your swimming activities in internal memory, and you can view insights on these activities after syncing with the Athlos App.

Important: You'll need to be a solid lap swimmer capable of performing standard flipturns and open turns for this mode to function accurately. Athlos Live will determine your swimming stroke in order to calculate calories and record your activities. It is able to detect freestyle and backstroke accurately. Depending on the swimmer's experience level, butterfly and breaststroke may be mixed up.

What is Swimming Race Mode?

Swimming race mode sets up a virtual race between you and your goal splits.

Athlos Live will compare your swimming times with the goal splits you setup, and report how ahead or behind you are from those splits at each 50 yard turn or 50 meter turn. It's a great way to stay consistent with splits and pacing for swimming events.

Important: You'll need to be a solid swimmer who can perform flipturns and open turns to use this mode accurately.

What is Swimming Workout Mode?

Swimming workout mode is a great way to improve your fitness and swimming capabilities. With this mode, you'll create your own swimming workout and sync it with your earbuds. Athlos Live earbuds will remember your workout and cue each of your swims at the exact right times. You'll be told what to swim and when to go! No clocks, no remembering, just listen and go!

Athlos Live will tell you what to swim next, and gives you a cue at halfway and when 10 seconds are left using live audio. It also plays stunning music underwater, making workouts much more fun. It will also record your workout for you, which you can view with the Athlos App.

You can customize your workout using the Athlos App. You'll only need to create a workout once, and the Athlos App will save it for you so you don't need to recreate it again.

What is Interval Training Mode?

Interval training mode lets you create your own interval (HIIT) workouts for your Athlos Live earbuds to remember. You'll be prompted what exercise to do and how long to do it for! No remembering. Just listen and work!

Interval training is a great way to improve your strength, but it's tough. It's difficult to remember what exercise comes next, managing timers is annoying, and each interval feels like an eternity when you're tired.

The Athlos coach will tell you when to start an exercise, and will alert you once you're halfway through the interval and when there's 10 seconds left. This makes it much easier to train and put in that extra effort to improve.

There is no need to carry any other devices like phones or smartwatches while you workout. Athlos Live is smart enough to provide everything for you.

What is Timer Mode?

Timer mode is like an audio stop watch. You can configure a set of times, and Athlos Live will provide audio reports when each time is reached. It also notifies you when you're halfway through and when there's 10 seconds left.

Of course, you'll get to enjoy your music with world-class sound quality, and there is no need to carry any other devices with you.
